Three men arrested for West Deer, Indiana home burglaries
Three men arrested for allegedly burglarizing an Indiana Township home also been have charged with breaking into a West Deer home the same day.
Police say the items taken were valued at an estimated $54,000.
West Deer police announced Tuesday that they charged Mark Jason Sacco, 34, of Ross, James Reynolds, 28, of Hampton, and John Scafuri, 38, of Plum, in the Oct. 7 burglary of a home on Shepard Road.
All were charged with one count each of burglary, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, theft and criminal mischief.
Police in Indiana Township arrested the trio within 48 hours of a residential burglary Oct. 7 on Westchester Drive, said Indiana Township police Detective Steve Colucci.
He said residents gave police information on a vehicle seen in the area that lead to the arrests.
Colucci said one of the men admitted to the West Deer burglary. A search of Sacco's home found property taken from the West Deer break-in, according to police.
In searching Sacco's home, Colucci said police also found a gun reported stolen from Armstrong County on Oct. 6.
The value of the West Deer burglary was estimated at $36,000, of which some items, such as jewelry, were recovered. The value of the recovered items was not known.
A large amount of jewelry and some household goods valued at as much as $18,000 were taken in the Indiana Township burglary.
Sacco and Scafuri are being held in jail, while Reynolds had been released on bond, Colucci said.
Colucci said police still are investigating to determine if the three have anything to do with other break-ins in the area.
